Best Carpet Cleaners in Lanarkshire 2023/24 and 2024/25

Rug cleaning in Glasgow

A rug sits in the busiest spot in the room, so feet, crumbs, spills and pets all end up on it. It often looks tired long before the carpet around it does. The good news is that most rugs clean up really well.

We clean shaggy, wool and synthetic rugs across Glasgow, and dry clean sisal and jute rugs that cannot take much water. Carl checks what your rug is made from first, so it gets the right method. We also work with a professional rug spa, so a full spa wash is always an option too.

Rugs we clean

  • Shaggy and synthetic rugs

Most modern rugs are polypropylene or polyester, including most shaggy rugs and the flat woven rugs from big furniture shops. They are hard wearing and come up brilliantly with a proper deep clean and rinse.

  • Wool rugs

Wool gets a gentler clean suited to wool, so the colours stay bright and the pile stays soft.

  • Sisal, jute and seagrass

Natural plant fibres can shrink and turn brown with too much water, so we dry clean them with a low moisture powder instead of washing them.

  • Pet urine and odours

Dog and cat accidents found with a UV light, including the ones you cannot see, and each spot treated deep in the rug to remove the odour, not just freshen the surface.

  • Silk, viscose and antique rugs

Delicate rugs can be ruined by the wrong clean. When a rug needs special treatment, we work with the best rug spa in Scotland, so it still gets the right care.

  • Re-clean guarantee

If any part is not right, tell us within 24 hours and we will come back and clean it again. Fully insured.

Sisal and jute rug cleaning

Natural fibre rugs look great but hate water. Wash a sisal or jute rug like a carpet and it can shrink, ripple and go brown.

So we dry clean them instead. A low moisture cleaning powder is brushed deep into the weave, where it soaks up the dirt, and then it is vacuumed back out. The rug comes up brighter and fresher, with no soaking and no long wait to use it again.

How we clean a rug

Shaggy, synthetic and wool rugs get the same careful 7 step routine as a carpet, adjusted to the fibre. Natural fibre rugs are dry cleaned instead.

  1. Look first

We check what your carpet is made of, how dirty it is and what the stains are, so we pick the right method before anything gets wet.

  2. Vacuum

A strong vacuum lifts the dry grit and dust first. Most of the dirt in a carpet is dry, and it comes out easiest this way.

  3. Treat the stains

Each stain gets its own treatment, worked from the bottom of the pile up, so it does not come back a few days later.

  4. Pre clean

A pet and child safe cleaning solution goes across the whole carpet to loosen the dirt without harming the fibres.

  5. Work it in

We brush the solution deep into the carpet so it reaches the dirt at the base, not just the surface.

  6. Rinse and lift out

A rinse washes the dirt and the cleaning solution away, then it is all pulled back out of the carpet. We freshen and deodorise as we go.

  7. Groom and dry

We comb the pile back into place and use fans or fresh air to help it dry faster.

Rug cleaning questions

How much does rug cleaning cost in Glasgow?

It depends on the size of the rug, what it is made from and how dirty it is. Our online quote tool covers rugs, so you can get an estimate in under a minute and add carpets or a sofa to the same visit. For a delicate or unusual rug, send us a photo of the rug and its label on WhatsApp.

Can sisal rugs be professionally cleaned?

Yes. Sisal, jute and seagrass are dry cleaned with a low moisture powder that is worked into the rug and then vacuumed out, taking the dirt with it. It brightens the rug and freshens it up. Old stains on natural fibres are harder to shift than on a synthetic rug, and we will tell you honestly what to expect.

Can sisal rugs get wet?

Not much. Water can make sisal, jute and seagrass shrink, go out of shape or leave brown marks. If you spill something, blot it straight away with a dry white cloth and do not scrub. Call us before trying anything stronger.

How long does a rug take to dry?

Most synthetic rugs dry in a few hours, much like a carpet. Thick wool rugs can take longer, especially in winter. Natural fibre rugs that are dry cleaned are ready much sooner, because very little moisture is used. Keep pets off a rug until it is fully dry.

Can you get pet urine smell out of a rug?

Usually, yes. We find every spot with a UV light and treat each one at the source. If a pet has used the same spot many times, the urine may have soaked into the backing, and we will tell you honestly before we start whether the smell can be fully removed.

Do you offer a rug spa wash?

Yes. As well as cleaning rugs ourselves, we work with a professional rug spa, so a full spa wash is always an option. Ask us and we will tell you which suits your rug.

What if my rug needs special treatment?

Viscose (sometimes sold as art silk), real silk and antique or hand made rugs with dyes that can run are very easy to damage. Rugs like these need special treatment, and for them we work with the best rug spa in Scotland. Send us a photo of the rug and its label and we will tell you honestly which route suits it.
